RESOURCE-BASED RECREATION
Access to wild places and opportunities to enjoy them is an abiding interest of the N.C. Wildlife Federation. From fishing to birdwatching, hunting to paddle sports, the Federation works on behalf of all North Carolinians who wish to find themselves in places where wildlife thrives.
Project: Wildlife Recreation
The Issue:
Recreation based on enjoying wildlife populations is an honored tradition in North Carolina. NCWF has long supported the sustainable use of wildlife resources, and has worked tirelessly and successfully to increase the quantity and quality of resources-based recreation opportunities. An increasing population and a decreasing amount of forest lands and streams and rivers open for public use threatens the public access to wildlife populations that has long been a hallmark of wildlife resources in the state.
The Action:
NCWF will offer recreational opportunities through our chapters and affiliates that are closely tied to the organization’s mission of supporting science-based wildlife management, and lend support to high-quality outdoor programming that underscores the ecological basis for land and water conservation. NCWF will continue to support opportunities geared towards recruitment and education of wildlife enthusiasts. |
